September & October Newsletter
Autumn is now upon us. What a busy month so far and there’s still so much more to come…..
Attendance Medals for our Summer Rewards Programme
We have given out over 400 medals to RTK students who have completed more than 6 lessons over the Summer. Over 90 of these were Gold Medals meaning that they had trained over 10 times. Amazing dedication during holiday time and the most we have ever awarded. Well done to everyone. If you think you are owed a medal and still haven’t received one please get in touch and we will get it out to you asap, email - info@redtigerkarateclub.co.uk
Welcome to the World Delilah Margaret Brady
Another new Tiger Cub is here! Daryl Brady Sensei, Emma and Adalind were blessed with the safe arrival of the beautiful Delilah Margaret. Delilah joined their gorgeous little family on the 13th August. She is just perfect and we couldn’t be happier for this lovely couple. Mum and baby are doing brilliantly, Daryl Sensei is knackered and little Adalind is overjoyed. She is making the best big sister ever! Congratulations Team Brady, already a great little fighter, I am sure she will join us the dojo very soon! I hope she is not practising her Kiai’s too late at night!
South Manchester Grading on Saturday 8th September
What a brilliant grading for the South Manchester, Cheshire and Stockport classes. Congratulations to every who took part, you were all fantastic. Paul Sensei led the grading with the help of our wonderful Instructor team. Every student was successful and we had a great day. We must say an extra well done to Isabella F from the Reddish Dojo who was chosen as Student of the Grading. She was exceptional on the day. One to watch in the future.
The following students reached the milestone of Brown Belt or above: (meaning that they have been training for at least 3 years):
Ryan S, Esme S and Ezra S from the Handforth Dojo earned their 1st Kyu. They gave it everything and impressed everyone. What is even better is that they are doing it as a family. Working hard and achieving their goals together. This is what we love to see!
Twins Mitchell and Marley L from the Handforth Dojo earned their 1st Kyus - Excellent karate and superb kumite, well done lads.
I cannot wait to see this group from Handforth go for their Black Belts, they will be amazing! Keep up the great work.
Gail T from the Romiley dojo earned her 2nd Kyu - we were so pleased for her, I hope she won’t mind me saying but Gail is in her 60’s and has taken up karate later in life. She always tries her absolute best and puts her heart and soul into her training. I think she inspired everyone there with her bravery and determination to complete the grading. Well done. Keep going Gail, we all want you to get to Black Belt.
Isabella F and Matthew F also earned their 3rd Kyu Brown Belts and were made to work really hard. Both have made improvement and are becoming more confident as they approach their Black Belt.
Recruitment - Recruitment - Recruitment
Over 160 new beginners have joined in September and we have opened two new dojos. Wishing a very warm welcome to our Chorley students who are training on Saturday mornings and our All Saints students in Farnworth on Tuesdays. Both classes are running with the endlessly energetic Sensei Callum. We hope you are enjoying your training so far!
Plenty of RTK classes have been topped up through School Assemblies and our new outdoor banners. If you would like us to visit your school - get in touch via info@redtigerkarateclub.co.uk and you could come and help us do our demo by standing at the front with Sensei Paul! New dojos will be opening over the next couple of months in the Bolton and Ramsbottom areas. Anyone interested in helping out/ becoming a Cadet Leader please let us know. We will have spaces very soon.
New Squad Class are smashing it!
The new format for Squad class has been a big success so far and each week has been really busy. Kata Squad and Kumite Squad are now training together in the same session, completing their fitness section together and then splitting off to work on their Kata or Kumite. Sensei Paul leads the session with the help of Squad coaches - Gary Pratley Sensei, Dave Robertson Sensei, Andy Matanle and David Smale. Its fab to see so many students taking advantage of the opportunity to work on their Katas and Kumite in this ultra-focused and competitive environment. The squad have comp coming up in November and we will soon have them looking great!
Ultimate Training Weekend
We’ve been on a great little kickin’ and punchin’ Haven holiday together and we had best time! This took place at Haf’ Ny’ Mor Haven over in North Wales. Over 90 Red Tigers took part from all areas in the Club. A full write up and photos from this great event will be available soon but for now we just want to say thank you so much to everyone who took part, because without you, we cannot make it happen. It is one of our favourite events to host and this was one of the best ones yet.
To all the family members who came along, you all made it great. Thank you to Paul Sensei, Matt Handley Sensei and Sam Jackson Sensei for teaching excellent sessions and making the karate so enjoyable. The time just flew by. The RTK Olympic Games was also a huge success, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you to Mike and Leesa Beckwith Sensei’s for their planning and prep and well done to Jon Curtis Sensei’s team for topping the medal table! Amazing work. Thank you to Abby Fielding for taking photos and all the students and Instructors who helped set up the event and clear away at the end. It was a true team effort.
As always the Saturday night was great fun with everyone getting the chance to scoop, socialise and watch the boxing in the Pub. The Sunday walk went well and we we saw a seal, a crab, lost a volleyball in the sea and tried to save loads of stranded silver fish.
What a fantastic experience to share together, memories were made, friendships have formed and we can’t wait to do it all over again!
